XL Production
Disciplines
Based in Brussels, Belgium since 2000, and led by Maria Clara Villa Lobos, XL Production has produced about ten shows since its foundation.
Everything started in 2000, when Maria Clara Villa Lobos created the show "XL, because size does matter" as part of Brussels 2000, which inspired the name of the company she founded to respond to the proposals and offers that followed this emblematic show of the company. From this concept of "measures", she embarked on a series of shows that tackle all the "excess" of consumer society, pointing out, not without humor, its drifts and quirks.
Generally speaking, what characterizes the artistic work of XL Production is a decompartmentalized approach to dance, playful and hybrid, sometimes mixing video, text, singing or plastic arts, resulting in a visual work, which deals with societal issues, such as the meat industry in Mas-Sacre, as well as more abstract and poetic aspects of existence, as evidenced by the children's piece Têtes-à-Têtes.
