Cie Victor B
Disciplines
Since its inception in 1993, the Victor B. Company and Jean-Michel Frère have embarked on a dual approach to original creations.
The first vein explores the encounter, the friction, between theatre and other artistic languages, with a privileged attention to contemporary forms and languages (video, plastic installations, breakdance, ...)
The second vein explores new relationships between actors and audiences, seeking a theatre of proximity and intimacy.
An experimental and mainstream approach
While the Company has always been concerned with engaging in a research approach, it has also always been concerned with reaching the widest and most varied possible audience, postulating that the originality of its approach, its visual and dynamic dimension, were likely to bring together very different audiences, even attracting new audiences, especially those usually uninterested. This is also at stake in performances that take place outside theatres and physically go to meet audiences.
This is one of the reasons that explain the significant distribution of the Company in the Wallonia-Brussels Federation, but also in France and elsewhere in Europe. During the summer of 2019, the Company gave its 1500th performance.
The Company is also...
- more than 1000 animations and encounters in schools,
- the programming of events during which the Company invites the public to discover artistic proposals close to its own approach,
- significant support for numerous Hip Hop projects: From the Springboard to the Stage, Wal'Style, d-Complex, Julien Carlier (Cie Abis),...
