Compagnie de la Bête Noire
Disciplines
In March 2009, Céline Delbecq and Charlotte Villalonga founded the Compagnie de la Bête Noire, following their first show that brought them together: The Owl.
The company's set objective is to question society through artistic research that focuses on staging the taboos and discord of our contemporary society, particularly by giving a voice to minorities. It juxtaposes the personal and the political, questions the individual's place within and against the collective, and stages men and women grappling with the transformations of our societies and the upheaval this implies in their way of being in the world.
The work of the company is marked by societal themes such as incest, suicide, end-of-life care, madness, childhood, through the prism of limitless theatrical creation in terms of forms of expression.
Initially, the company catered to both young audiences (The Owl, Supernova) and general audiences (Beech), but eventually focused solely on general audiences (Abyss, Total Eclipse, The Wild Child, The Wind Blows on Erzebeth, Unhinged).
