WHAT’S UP
Disciplines
Established in 2010, the company What's Up (WUP) is dedicated to creating shows and performances, their distribution, and workshops with specific audiences. Héloïse Meire ensures overall artistic coordination and catalyzes all of WUP's projects. Artists from different disciplines have joined her to create collective projects. The company is currently structured around three artistic lines: Héloïse Meire's stagings, the multidisciplinary creations of the ODMA group (with Cécile Hupin, Katherine Longly and Héloïse Meire), and the theatrical creations of the LA GANG Collective (with Alice Martinache, Sophie Delacollette and Héloïse Meire).
To date, the company has created about ten theatrical and multidisciplinary projects. Each of its projects develops significant investigative work, writing (in situ, at the table or on stage) and formal research (visual, sound and stage device). The projects are developed from a societal questioning, starting from the intimate to better question our human functioning.
Among WUP's notable productions, you can find shows like "Is there life on Mars?" based on testimonies from autistic people and their relatives, "Beings and Possessions" built with teenagers around their relationship with objects, "Dream Job(s)" by Alex Lorette, a musical show that addresses violence in the world of work, and "Medusa.s", a modern reinterpretation of the Medusa myth highlighting violence against women.
In a transmission approach, the company conducts workshops and internships for teenage and adult audiences. It has also initiated a reflection on the inclusion of non-neurotypical people in theatrical performances.
