The Théâtre de la Guimbarde creates performances that bring the worlds of children and adults into dialogue. From early childhood through to adolescence, the company offers artistic experiences that stir emotions, prompt reflection and invite audiences to see the world in a different light.
Through powerful writing and a variety of theatrical languages, La Guimbarde takes a nuanced and critical look at society and explores humanity, its contradictions and what it means to live together. It regards children as fully-fledged audience members, without sugar-coating the subjects addressed, and works with artists who take unique creative approaches.
A pioneer in Belgium in theatre production for children aged 0–3, the company carries out specific research focusing on very young children and also engages with the adults who care for them. Alongside its productions, it develops outreach programmes in nurseries and schools, as well as training courses for adults.
Since 2020, her creative and performance space, in the heart of Charleroi, has been hosting her activities, artists-in-residence and a diverse cultural programme, open to the local neighbourhood.
