Faso Danse Théâtre/Serge Aimé Coulibaly
Disciplines
The company Faso Dance Theatre was founded in 2002 (Bobo Dioulasso/Brussels) by Serge Aimé Coulibaly. Serge Aimé Coulibaly explores complex themes with the desire to give a real positive dynamic to the youth. Humanity must learn from the mistakes of the past. Serge Aimé's dance is positive, starting from negativity to activate the positive in people.
Over the course of his various creations, the Belgian-Burkinabe choreographer has been able to develop an original contemporary artistic speech, rich and powerful, rooted in African cultures and articulated around strong themes, where dance is primarily emotion. His sincerity, his political and historical questionings, make him a committed choreographer. His pieces are always partly created in Africa and partly in Europe.
For Serge Aimé, dance is a social commitment. He questions daily reality and social evolutions by sharing this research with his audience. In his work, he explores the interface between individual personality and commitment, the tension between what the individual feels and what the commitment to a better world imposes on this individual. Based on his commitment, he has developed a creation process based on the principle of duality: every movement that crosses the body has an opposite. Every form of energy is accompanied by a second form. This brings the body and mind into a state where intuition and urgency take precedence.
