Clinic Orgasm Society
Disciplines
Born almost by chance in 2001 in Brussels, the Clinic Orgasm Society is a protean and multidisciplinary artistic group. Each project, under the impulse and direction of Ludovic Barth and/or Mathylde Demarez, is conceived by a small, variable core of artists.
Why the name Clinic Orgasm Society? The meaning of this assembly of words was not premeditated. It only appeared to us later, when we realized that all our work was closely or distantly related to bringing the organic and the mechanical together. Hence, the idea of a society that would clinically provoke orgasms seemed quite accurate in today's reality. Similarly, the titles of the Clinic Orgasm Society's shows have no direct and explicit link with their content at first glance. It is up to the viewer to invent, to project meaning, to react with their own experience. The Clinic Orgasm Society will not spoon-feed this task. It simply aims to make them want to do it.
The Clinic Orgasm Society does not consider itself a theater company, but rather a virtual place of experimentation, a laboratory whose researchers strive to bring to life stage acts conceived as monstrous creatures and deliberately poorly stitched together, to further push the hybridization between performance, theater, and technological tinkering.
