Adolescence – an age of desires, doubts and dilemmas, a time of uncertainty and change – is celebrated by the Nyash company. Drawing inspiration from *Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun*, the piece lies at the crossroads of poetry, music and dance.  From Mallarmé’s poem (1876) to Debussy’s score (1894) and on to Nijinsky’s choreography (1912), *Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun* marked a turning point in each of these disciplines. It is this legacy that inspires the artistic team in this ode to the power of adolescence. What torments and questions does this faun – half-animal, half-human – embody? What echoes – bursts of energy, exhilaration, budding potential – does he find within us today?

How can one make time visible, tangible, and lay bare time in its naked form – time as it passes – giving it shape and capturing it in its very movement? This is the challenge taken up by Alexis Rouvre and his ‘circus of objects’. A juggler of time, rather than of gravity, he draws his inspiration from the astrophysicist Carlo Rovelli: ‘Bodies naturally move towards where time passes more slowly’. An alchemist of vanities, he uses the simplest of objects – knitted fabric, a chain, a stone – to create a work of profound poetry, revealing the hidden side of the fleeting moment, which lasts for nothing, yet sustains everything.
